European shipping must remain competitive by using technology, argued Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Natasa Pilides during a debate on the ‘FlagShip Conference’, an event for international shipping organised by the European Shipowners Association (ECSA) in collaboration with the EU Transport Directorate.
More specifically, Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister, Natasa Pilides urged for the introduction of new incentives that will aim to ensure additional development of the shipping sector and support for maritime technology, innovation and education.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of a Blue Growth Strategy, which will contribute to the economic development of EU Member States.
In addition, during the conference Ms. Pilides met with European Commissioner for Transport Adina Vălean. The Commissioner presented her priorities and objectives, asking Cyprus to support European maritime forums.
For her part, Ms. Pilides assured that Cyprus will constructively contribute to the work of the EU and the IMO, while at the same time ensuring the competitiveness of shipping globally.
