On 23 December, the containership, AMNAH, tilted and then capsized at Ambarli Port in Turkey, causing several containers to spill into the sea.
At around 4:00 AM local time, the ship began listing due to uneven weight distribution. The emergency rescue team quickly responded and evacuated 10 of the 15 crew members, while the remaining five jumped into the sea and swam safely to shore on their own.
One crew member sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. There are no reported casualties.
The Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure stated that a floating barrier was placed around the ship to prevent potential sea pollution. Rescue efforts were then initiated under the coordination of the port authority. The incident is still under investigation.
