Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has published its new report “2020 State of the Cruise Industry Outlook” focusing on cruise industry’s analytics, researches and trends that will drive the company forward. As the President and CEO Kelly Craighead, further reported more than 30 million guests are expected to sail the following year.
With the demand of cruising reaching new heights, CLIA is making every effort to boost the passenger’s experience as is going to launch 19 new ocean cruise vessels ships in the upcoming year.As a result, company’s 278 ocean ships are scheduled to be in operation by the end of 2020.
Comissioned by CLIA and conducted with the aid of business researchers and economic advisors, the report presents that passengers spend about $376 in port terminals before entering a cruise, while after boarding and during the cruise voyage, spend $101 in each visiting port destination.
For the records, North America recorded the highest rate of cruisers for the 2018, hitting 14.2 million passengers in total. At the same time, second on the cruisers list, came the Western Europe with 6.731.000 millions cruisers and following there was Asia with 4.240.000 million passengers. Furthermore, the report showed that 82% of cruisers are likely to book a cruise again as their next vacation.
While many travelers searching for quick trips, the cruise line company plans to provide bite-sized cruises over a three-to-five-day period including a variety of destinations.
CLIA highlighted additional 2020 trends, which among others was that 65% of cruise passengers spend a few extra days at embarkation or debarkation ports and more than 66% of Generation X and 71% of Millennials have a more positive attitude about cruising compared to two years ago.
