Ten seafarers have been reported missing, after a general cargo ship disappeared in the Black Sea, off Istanbul, and is believed to have sunk, on Wednesday.
The Turkish-flagged ‘Bilal Bal’ had reportedly sent a distress signal in the early hours of November 1st, while plying in the Black Sea and before disappearing approximately seven nautical miles off the coast of Sile, Istanbul, according to sources.
At that time, the ship was carrying 10 crew men onboard, all of whom are still unaccounted for.
The ship was transporting iron ore from the port of Gemlik, in the Sea of Marmara, to the port of Eregli in Black Sea.
A search and rescue operation has begun for the missing crew, the Turkish Coast Guard informed.
