A Panama-registered car carrier called “Auto Banner”, caught fire while it was anchored at the South Korean port of Incheon, on Monday May 21. All of the crewmembers were safely evacuated.
As Yonhap news agency reports, the fire started at around 9:40 am on the 52,422-ton ship, which at the time was carrying some 2,000 used cars destined for Libya.

One of the cars’ engine was probably overheated, catching fire, which then spread. Firefighters are still trying to put out the fire, but no casualties were reported.
The car carrier called “Auto Banner”, had come from the US on Saturday, May 19 and was planned to go to Libya on Tuesday, May 22.
