On November 23, bulk carrier Kiran America became disabled on the Bosphorus Strait according to reports.
The 190 meter long, 56569 dwt bulk carrier Kiran America became disabled on the Bosphorus Strait off Kanlıca, Turkey. As reported, the vessel lost control and drifted towards the shore, but it came to a stop a few meters before the shore and found itself aground. The crew managed to maneuver the vessel and prevented it from getting stranded.
Furthermore, per the reports, there are conflicting accounts on whether it was a rudder failure or strong winds that caused the vessel incident.
There are no reports of injuries, damage or pollution released as of now.
To remind, on 17 November a similar incident took place in the Bosphorus Strait where a tanker vessel suffered a rudder failure.
