The Liberian-flagged bulk carrier ‘Harriett’ remains aground in the White sea, off Arkhangelsk port, Russia, since the afternoon of Mar 15th, when it departed Arkhangelsk heading to Terneuzen, Netherlands.
According to local media reports, the ship ran aground off Mudyug island western coast, during the night of 14 March, with 20000 tons of coal on board and remains at the same position as of 19 March.
The vessel was proceeding in ice, with icebreaker in the lead, when the icebreaker suffered a blackout. The bulk carrier moved with ice floe from fairway to shallows.
An underwater survey is expected to be carried out on 20 March, with two salvage options under consideration: either to lighter bulk carrier, or attempt to refloat her assisted by icebreakers.
