A bosun of the general cargo ship Tiksy died during an accident on board the ship in the morning of December 31.
The accident took place when the ship was sailing in Barents sea off Novaya Zemlya Archipelago, en route from Dudinka to Arkhangelsk.
According to reports, the ship was battling a strong storm, when several containers on cargo deck became unstable and were about to shift.
Then, the bosun with several AB approached the containers, in order to secure them. However, one of containers went loose and collapsed, crashing the bosun.
The seafarer sustained mortal injuries including torn off legs, and died almost on the spot.
