The Panama Maritime Authority has issued a Merchant Marine Circular on Security Documents of the Seafarer´s Automated Application System in order to communicate the maritime sector the format of the security documents, issued in the Merchant Marine Privative Consulate and the Regional Documentation Offices, implemented with the Seafarers’Automated Application System.
- Transitory Certificate: Issued in security paper, with Panama’s coat of arms, at the right bottom, seafarers’ microprint photograph at the right.
It is important to note that the document can be validated as follows:
– Checking with a magnifier that the right’s photograph is properly made up with the holder’s
name and last name.
– Verifying that do not appear at the user view, the word “COPIA”.
– Placing the document verifier on the gray area to show the hidden security image. Check thatmatch with the printed information. - Seaman’s Book: For officers and rating, of international and national waters, has a unique design innavy blue, embossed lettering in golden color, with size and shape according to the ICAO.
- Courses’ Endorsements: Issued in security paper (8 ½” x 11”), with the stamp of the Panama’s coat of arms at the right bottom.
- Watchkeeping Certificate: Issued in security paper (8 ½” x 14”), with the stamp of the Panama coat of arms at the right bottom.
It must be verify the validity and authenticity of the security documents with the on line Consultation of the Panama Maritime Authority, in case that the document of the on line Consultation cannot be validated.
