A Norwegian maritime software company launched a mobile application that enables vessel and shore based personnel to go digital when conducting audits and inspections on site.
Specifically, the company called BASSnet that launched the Inspection app assists the shipping industry, also highlighting the importance of technology within the sector.
In general, the logistics concerning checklist items at various locations before transferring information to safety management systems can be complex and time intensive, while paperwork may increase the errors or missed information. Overall, paperwork has been at the centre of discussions, with the industry stating how important digitalization is to ease operations.
Per Steinar Upsaker, CEO and managing director of BASS commented that “Using predefined templates on-site means standardization of inspection checklists across the company and fleet.”
