After four months of closure
Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation has issued aCircular announcing that the port of Aden is now open and has received more than ten vessels since the cessation of hostilities.
The Coroporation emphasizes that Port navigational services (towage, pilotage, mooring/ unmooring etc) are ready and requests everyone providing services for the port to confirm to all parties, especially international shipping lines, exporters, importers and merchants, that the port has now regained its ability to provide these services after four months of closure.
A separateCircular has been issued by Aden Ports Development Company advising that Aden Container Terminal (ACT) was undamaged during the crisis and is ready to resume handling commercial vessels as usual and to carry out all terminal handling activities, including ship-to-shore or yard or Gate-In and Gate-Out operations.
It also wishes to draw the attention to the decision made by the HE Minister of Transport to exempt containers of foodstuff and medicine which were discharged from ships that arrived at the terminal on 1st March 2015. Accordingly, ship agents are required to contact cargo owners/ consignees in order to expedite the clearance of their abandoned cargo in the port and to benefit from the aforementioned exemption.
