On April 26, an Italian product tanker, named “Rinella M”, caught fire at the dock in Port of Alexandria, Egypt, during offloading operation.
In particular, the fire appeared while the vessel was transferring 9,000 tons of gasoline cargo, and the operations had to stop, in order to prevent more extent spread of the fire. The crew reported the accident to the local authorities, who sent rescue forces.
There is no information about injuries or water pollution, while it is unknown if the loading was completed. The causes of the incident are under investigation.
The vessel, built in 2006, has length of 180.00 m, moulded beam of 32.20 m and maximum draft of 8.70 m.
