Enter-prize Energy and Vietnam Energy Association (VEA) have presented their plan for the creation of the 3.4GW Ke Ga offshore wind farm in Vietnam. The plans were presented on December 7, during a workshop regarding the massive wind farm.
According to local reports, the Ke Ga offshore wind power project will have a total capacity of 3,400MW and it is valued around US$ 9 billion excluding investment for power grid connection to national power system.
According to the Enter-prize Energy’s Chairman, Mr. Ian Hatton, the project will be developed by several investment phases with a capacity of 600 MW for each phase.
Mr. Ian Hatton added that the Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) supports the project and it has sent a paper to Government for consideration.

Furthermore, Mr. Hatton noted that with the appropriate and stable regulations from the government, reasonable power purchase agreement, using proven turbine technologies from reputable contractors to manufacture and install, the International banks will ensure enough capital investment for developing the project.
VEA Chairman Tran Viet Ngai reassured that Ke Ga project will be the first offshore wind power project in Vietnam and will make a breakthrough for the economy of Vietnam and, therefore, it should be deployed soon.
