The LNG Marine Fuel Institute (LNG MFI) and the World Ocean Council (WOC) partnered joining forces to boost and endorse the use of LNG as a marine fuel, the research and development of technical standards, regulations and management strategies for LNG.
Through this collaboration, both parties will commit and set a framework to collaborate and share their expertise.
The CEO of LNG Marine Fuel Institute, Margot Matthews stated that this partnership with WOC will provide the members with greater access to information and better connections.
On their part, WOC Founding President and CEO, Paul Holthus commented that
The LNG Marine Fuel Institute is working to decarbonise shipping, fisheries and other ocean industries. As the Global Blue Economy Business Organization, the WOC provides an international platform to bring leadership companies from the ocean business and investment community to engage with LNG MFI to advance the important global fuel economy transition.
Overall, the World Ocean Council strives for a better and more sustainable future. Recently, in SAFETY4SEA’s Sea Sense Column, WOC’s Christine Valentin explained the vision on ocean sustainability.
Also, in early 2019, the World Ocean Council (WOC) launched key green and sustainable shipping programs in order to foster and facilitate communication among the programs and stimulate coordination.
