National Geographic Endurance, an expedition ship built for polar navigation, has successfully completed its first sea trials. The ship be delivered this month. It features 124.4-meters, with a deadweath of around 1,250 tonnes and a maximum speed of 17.3 knots.
The vessel will start its maiden voyage in Svalbard in Spring: Polar Bears, Arctic Light and Epic Ice on April 2, 2020.
The voyage will be followed by several expeditions including sailing through the Northeast Passage.
Lindblad Expeditions and Ulstein Group also celebrated the keel laying of another second polar new build in October 2019 in Gdynia, Poland. Namely, National Geographic Resolution was named to honor Captain James Cook, the explorer who first circumnavigated Antarctica, crossed the Antarctic Circle, and the first European to reach Hawaii.
Captain Cook captained several ships, with his favourite being the MS Resolution.
