Celebrity Edge, the first ship to be completely designed in 3D, has already started its Translantic voyage this month. The vessel marks a turning point on ship design, as from the first sketches, every step was done in 3D. The vessel is one of the four Edge-class Celebrity Cruise’s ships that was launched in 2018. The company officially took delivery of Celebrity Edge from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France in November 2018.
Guests onboard are not required to carry anything other than smartphones to access their staterooms, which will be possible through a mobile app. Moreover, in a bid to make the destination experience more immersive, the vessel has a unique, outward-facing design that breaks from traditional ship design, to enable guests to feel more connected with the sea and their destinations.
The ship began her transatlantic voyage to her home port at T25 at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on 6 November. Its start season combines seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruise itineraries.
During the spring season of 2019, Celebrity Edges is set to cross the Atlantic again, heading to Mediterranean with a diversity of 7 to 11 night sailings. Maiden Western Caribbean voyage will be departing on 9 December and Maiden Eastern Caribbean voyage will be departing on 16 December of this year.
