Very Large Ore Carrier ‘China Steel Innovator’ collided with the stern of the berthed containership ‘Ever Laden’ on June 19, while it was maneuvering in Kaohsiung Port, Taiwan, upon arriving from Australia, carrying ore cargo.
‘China Steel Innovator’ dropped both anchors in an attempt to prevent collision, but did not succeed. However, this measure slowed the ship’s speed down, reducing the impact. Nevertheless, both ships sustained damages.

The Kaohsiung Port Authority conducted an initial investigation into the accident, finding that ‘China Steel Innovator’ experienced difficulties while maneuvering. As a result, the vessel is currently not allowed to leave the port, until the investigations into the accident have been concluded.
The final cause of the accident will be released after the end of the investigation, while no injuries were reported after the collision.
