Finally, the design also includes capacities for firefighting, oil recovery and rescue capabilities in accordance with NOFO, Oil Rec and Standby rescue NMD for up to 270 persons and as such, Troms Offshore believes that this vessel will play an important role in the rescue and emergency planning in cold water operations in Northern Norway, in the Barents Sea and other Arctic areas.
Mårten Lunde, the CEO of Troms Offshore, stated: “We are delighted with Tidewater’s order of one high end arctic class multi-purpose PSV designed to cope with both sea ice and challenges related to icing on equipment and systems onboard PSVs operating in arctic waters. In combination with her wide range of capabilities, this vessel will be ideal for work in the Barents Sea and in other even more challenging arctic operation areas. Troms Offshore recently announced an order of two VARD 08 design vessels to be built in Vietnam and with the new build announced today, our parent company has committed more than USD 130 million in investments targeted for the Troms Offshore operations and thus supporting our growth strategy. Troms Offshore continues to invest in modern tonnage and qualified personnel and our three new vessels imply additional recruitment and job creation in Northern Norway.”
