Training and preparation for expanded Panama Canal

In this video, Panama Canal Pilot Training Coordinator, Peter Pusztai, talks about training and preparation for operation of the Expanded Canal as the transit method through the new locks is different from that of the present one.

The expanded Canal is diferent due to the great size of the vessels which require greater skill to maneuver them safely and efficiently due to factors such as hydrodynamic forces that they are subject to in shallow waters and confined areas.
