The oil tanker Xing Long Zhou 569 exploded on March 19, in the East China according to local media. The Chinese authorities rescued 13 people while three others remain missing.
Specifically, the incident occured while the tanker was sailing 90 miles south of Shidao Island in Shandong province. Luckily, the fire has been under control.
However, the cause of the fire is not clear yet. Eventually, search and rescue efforts are still underway, monitoring the site for a potential oil spill.
The vessel is further reported to have been towed to the port of Shidao.
