A three year project, funded by EU to support the e-Maritime Initiative
Maritime transport is a major economical contributor in the EU as well as a necessary component for the facilitationof international and interregional trade on which the European economy is strongly dependent.The eMAR project aims to empower the European maritime sector in offering efficient quality shipping services fullyintegrated in the overall European transport system over an upgraded connectivity infrastructure.
eMAR will deliver:
- An e-Maritime Strategic Framework (EMSF)bringing together into a coherent whole concepts,processes, standards and technologies to createa common language enabling networking andcomputer supported co-operation between theprincipal maritime transport stakeholder groups.
- A pilot implementation of e-Maritime solutions foracquiring essential data, handling it, exchanging itand sharing it in the most efficient way taking intoconsideration commercial confidentiality betweenstakeholders.

The eMAR Project is a 3 year EU funded research project, which comes to an end in a year (December 2014), to improve the efficiency and increase the competitiveness of the European Maritime Transport. The success of the eMAR Project will be a part of the strategic goals of the EU Maritime Transportation Strategy 2018.
In the coming months, the Project will develop pilot ‘tools’ in order to facilitate daily transactions between the maritime agencies and the governmental / administrative services throughout EU.
