In preparations of Brexit, Port of Amsterdam is opening an area as a truck parking to ensure that traffic flows properly in ferry terminal in Ijmuiden. Trucks will be able to park temporarily when their customs documents are not in order for maritime transport to and from the UK.
Specifically, the plan of the temporal parking is between the port of Amsterdam, the municipality of Velsen and Seaport IJmuiden.
As stated, only trucks that can not access the ferry in the port of IJmuiden have access to the parking facility.
Truck drivers are able to arrange the necessary formalities in consultation with their client or transport planner without causing (parking) inconvenience.
The parking will have a capacity for 35 trucks and is equipped with a fence, lighting, sanitary facilities and security.
Concerning the traffic flow, a traffic plan has been drawn up aiming to limit any traffic jam caused by trucks.
Concluding, the traffic plan ensures that the flow of local and regional traffic continues to flow by guiding freight traffic that is not in order to a designated parking location and preventing queues on the Halkade and Dokweg in IJmuiden.
