Taiwan imported 15.65 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from January to November, up by 1.6% in comparison to the same period in the year before, according to sources. In November, Taiwan imported 1.03 million tonnes of the chilled fuel, which decreased by 23.4% when compared to 1.35 tonnes the country received the same month in 2017.
Qatar, which is the world’s largest LNG exporter, was stable as Taiwan’s biggest supplier, with 4.65 million tonnes, in the timeframe from January to November.
However, the volumes experienced a reduction in comparison to the 4.84 million tonnes, Taiwan imported in 2017.

Moreover, Malaysia, following Qatar, was the second biggest supplier of LNG to Taiwan, during the same period, with 2.56 million tonnes.
Russia followed third, by supplying 2.24 million tonnes, whereas Australia delivered 2.09 million tonnes to Taiwan.
Taiwan, who’s the world’s fifth largest LNG buyer, paid about $7.2 billion for these LNG imports in comparison to $5.7 billion in 2017.
In conclusion, the remaining LNG imports came from Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Brunei, US, Oman, Trinidad and Tobago, Angola, Nigeria, Peru, UAE, Norway and Cameroon.
