A Taiwanese longliner grounded at Mauritius on December 5, after losing power off the coast of Saint Brandon.
Mauritius’ coast guard saw the vessel in distress by AIS, with a maritime patrol aircraft spotting the vessel aground and listing to starboard. However, no one aboard responded to a VHF hail.
A little later, servicemembers with the National Coast Guard helped all 20 of the crewmembers of the Yu Feng 67 to disembark.
After that, the Mauritian National Coast Guard cutter CGS Barracuda picked them up and brought them back to Port Louis.
A containment boom was also installed, while a monitoring crew was left behind.
