The bunkering vessel ENGIE Zeebrugge performed in the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, its first deliveries of LNG as a marine fuel to two new gas-propelled pure car and truck carriers of UECC. The LNG bunkering operations were conducted at the same time that the cargo operations for the carriers were taking place.

ClassNK said that it will commence operation of the world’s first comprehensive electronic certificate service for classification and statutory certificates, starting from 15 June 2017. The service, ClassNK e-Certificate, will first be made available to Liberian-flagged vessels on the ClassNK register exclusively.

Wärtsilä announced the introduction of a fully integrated hybrid power module, combining engines, an energy storage system, and power electronics optimised to work together through a newly developed energy management system. GE’s Marine Solutions reports that the world’s first Liquid Propane Gas -fueled ferry design to use GE’s COmbined Gas turbine Electric and Steam system has successfully completed Hazard Identification meetings.
