Three vessels blown away during typhoon

In Zhejiang Province Although various precautions have been taken by shipyards and ports before Typhoon Haikui arrived, three vessels have been blown away during the largest typhoon to hit Zhejiang Province yesterday.A 57000dwt bulker, a 300000dwt VLCC in Zhoushan Cosco Shipyard, and a 120000dwt bulker in Longshan Shipyard were blown away. In order to prevent more damage, Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration sent two high-power tug boat to search for the missing vessels.Currently all the three vessels has been located and two of them has been retrieved.Source: Sino Ship News

Southeast China prepares to face typhoon, ships return to harbours

Four rescue ships and 65 tug boats on emergency standby Over 1,800 Chinese ships returned to harbours as the southeastern coastal areas of China prepared for the onslaught of Typhoon Nanmadol and authorities upgraded their risk to the highest level.Maritime affairs bureaus of Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou today jointly activated the red warning, the highest level, to recall all ships to harbour, authorities with the Fujian provincial maritime affairs department said.The department has already strengthened the offshore patrol and inspection to safeguard the safety of the ships.Four rescue ships, three rescue jets and 65 tug boats have been put on emergency standby.The Fujian observatory said Nanmadol was most likely to make a landfall over the southern part of Fujian, bringing gales and rainstorms.The observatory forecast that the typhoon would coincide with an astronomical tide today, and waves are expected to reach 2-3.5 meters high in Fujian's coastal areas.It also warned the the local governments as the typhoon could lead to potential torrential floods and landslides in some regions.Source: PTI
