Sunken Thai tour boat ‘Phoenix’ refloated

 On Saturday afternoon, Thai authorities managed to recover the wreck of the tourist boat ‘Phoenix’, which sank in July claiming lives of over 40 people onboard. The sunken vessel had been lying in 45 metres of water, about 4 km off Ko Hae, near Phuket, since 5 July, when it capsized in heavy weather. Previous attempts to refloat the sunken boat had been unsuccessful.

Five missing after boat sinks off Thailand are alive

Five people that have been reported missing from the boat that sank in a storm off Phuket island, Thailand, are alive, Thai authorities informed on Monday. However it is not clarified whether the five survived the sinking are did not get on board the ship from the start. Thai authorities are now trying to verify the persons’ detail.

49 missing after boat capsizes off Phuket island, Thailand

A boat with 97 people, including Chinese tourists and Thai crew, capsized off Thailand’s Phuket island, the Thai Navy informed on Thursday, June 5. Currently, 49 are missing, while Thailand has rescued 48. Thailand is going through the monsoon season, and the ship encountered rough seas.
