Russian tanker transfers fuel to North Korean ship, despite sanctions

A Russian tanker breached trade sanctions as it transferred fuel to a North Korean ship at sea at least four times between October 2017 and May 2018, according to two crew members who saw the transfers. During these transfers, the ship had declared the Port of Ningbo in China, as its destination. However, the crewmembers who gave this information, did not provide evidence of the violation of the sanctions.

Tanker company sues marine fuel supplier

Blue Fin Tankers,  part of the Heidmar tanker pool, claims the marine fuel supplier delivered bunkers that were off-spec and not suitable to use. Mainly,  Blue Fin ordered 800 - 1,000 metric tonnes of IFO 180 cSt RMG 180 at $508 per ton to be delivered to the M/V Ridgebury Alina L  at the Mauritian port. The vessel was under charter to Resource Marine Pte Ltd. for a voyage from Freeport, Bahamas to Singapore.

Crude oil export port to be created off Freeport

Texas COLT, a proposed joint venture among Enbridge, Kinder Morgan, and Oiltanking, announced that it has submitted an application with the US Maritime Administration to construct and operate a deepwater crude oil export port located off the coast of Freeport, Texas. The submission with MARAD starts the application process for Texas COLT which is expected to be in-service by 2022.

Crewmember injured because of knife attack

A crewmember of the LR2 tanker STI Guard was seriously injured in a knife attack that took place on February 4, according to the Regional Operational Monitoring and Rescue Center (CROSS) of Reunion Island. Since the attack occurred in international waters, the vessel's flag , Marshall Islands, has jurisdiction over the investigation and any charges that might follow.
