The US is trying to cope with another storm passing through, Tropical Depression Imelda, as it has caused many disruptions and dozens of inches of rain near Beaumont, Texas, while the USCG is assisting the local authorities.

As the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement informs, offshore oil and gas operators in the Gulf of Mexico have evacuated platforms and rigs in response to Tropical Storm Barry. Specifically, personnel have been evacuated from 283 production platforms, 42.3% of the 669 manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. 

The Port of New Orleans announced an update regarding its operations ahead of the severe weather currently associated with Tropical Storm Barry. Namely, the Port decided to apply several measures in order to prepare for the storm. The Port has taken measures regarding its cargo operations, cruise operations, bridge operations, and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal.

The Indian Coast Guard reported that no loss of life or property was reported at sea after the cyclonic storm 'Fani' hit the country on May 3. However, 'Fani' still caused extensive damage at the shore, Indian Coast Guard Inspector General K.R Suresh informed. India started preparing from April 23, when it received the first low pressure reports.

India has evacuated more than 300,000 people along its northeast coastline by boat, bus and train, as a severe cyclone will make landfall on May 3. In fact, many villagers are piling household possessions on to trucks prior to leaving their homes. Authorities have shut operations at two major ports, Paradip and Visakhapatnam, while ships have been ordered to move out to avoid damage.

The ferries Don Peppino and Benito Buono collided with each other in Ischia port, Italy, on February 23. The incident took place due to stormy weather conditions at the port, with both ships sustaining minor damages. Benito Buono was struck at its the stern as the ship was berthing. As for Don Peppino, it continued its voyage to Naples despite bow damage.

The livestock carrier Wardeh, which was anchored off Mersin, Turkey, drifted aground on January 15, because of a storm. Due to the storm, the city waterfront was flooded as well. At the time of the incident, the ship was carrying two crewmembers, who the Turkish Coast Guard is trying to evacuate them.

KrisEnergy Ltd. shut down its Thai oil production at the Wassana field in the G10/48 licence in the Gulf of Thailand and halted drilling of infill development wells by the Mist jack-up rig due to tropical storm 'Pabuk'. After temporarily shutting down the production, all staff from the Wassana mobile offshore production unit and Mist jack-up rig was safely evacuated to onshore Thailand.

The Marine Casualty Investigation Board released its report about the heavy rolling of the ‘MV Epsilon’, on February 8, 2016, while it was sailing from Cherbourg in France. As a result, ten passengers and two crew members got injured. The senior Master was of the view that the vessel could outrun the weather.

In Corpus Christi, Texas, two men from Matagorda Island were lifted up from the Coast Guard, in Thursday morning, after their sailing vessel ran aground because of losing its mast. A helicopter aircrew landed and helped the two men to emergency medical services experts at Port Lavaca Airport. Both the owner and the crewmember are in stable condition.
