A storm called Ali is currently hitting Scotland. The storm detached the cruise ship 'Nautica' from its moorings in Greenock, Scotland. The vessel drifted away from the dock on September 19. 'Nautica' experienced strong winds and got detached from the dock. Now all guests, about 500, are stuck at sea but safe.

The US Coast Guard Captain of the Port reopened commercial ports in Honolulu and Maui Counties to vessel traffic on September 12. Shoreside operations resumed as waterside assessments continued and Olivia passed with Tropical Storm Warnings still active at the time. Hawaii and Kauai County ports opened on September 12.

Energy companies and port operators along the U.S. Gulf Coast began re-operating on Wednesday September 5, after Tropical Storm Gordon shut down over 9% of the region’s oil and gas production. in New Orleans, pilots began moving cargo vessels  through the Mississippi River while the lock connecting the Mississippi River to the intracoastal waterway is open.

Vietnam ordered ships to return to port and prepared evacuation plans in northern provinces which are more likely to be affected by floods. This development comes as the tropical storm 'Son Tinh' is expected to reach the land later on Wednesday, July 18. The storm is expected to produce 350 mm of heavy rain

USCG is warning mariners to be extremely careful when passing the coasts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, from Wednesday 21 March into Thursday, 22 March, as a winter storm is expected in this area. Conditions are expected to get worse on Wednesday night, 212 March, with dangerous wind and sea conditions along Southern New England waters.

The US Coast Guard advises operators in the mid-Atlantic region to be very careful, as a storm system is expected in the region, with winds of over 30 miles-per-hour and seas up to or surpassing 10 feet. Operators are also advised to stay up to date on the weather as conditions can change suddenly and with little warning.

Debris and some fuel from the damaged boats was released into the Marina, however most of the fuel was broken up during the bad weather. But considerable quantities of polystyrene from damaged floating pontoons is also adding to the waste disposal problem.

New England Coast is experiencing severe weather conditions, as a strong coastal winter storm, including high winds and dangerously cold temperatures is expected to hit the area, the US National Weather Service informed.

The port of Quy Nhon, in Vietnam, is congested at the time, because of a storm that occurred in the area, resulting in multiple vessels to sink, thus blocking ship traffic, sources report.

The US NOAA issued the scheduled update for its 2017 hurricane season outlook, warning that the season has the potential to be the most active since 2010, with forecasters predicting a higher likelihood of an above-normal season and increasing the predicted number of named storms and major hurricanes.
