Cruise ship with scrubbers floated out

Fincantieri announced the float out of the ocean cruise ship "Viking Jupiter", which was built for Viking. The cruise ship is equipped with scrubbers and has energy efficient engines to meet with strict environmental regulations. The ship will have a gross tonnage of about 47,800 tons, 465 cabins with accommodation for 930 passengers.

Diesel engines can reduce shipping emissions, report says

The Diesel Technology Forum and the Environmental Defense Fund released a report highlighting the emission reduction benefits that can be offered by the latest clean diesel models. The joint research estimates that replacing older engines in a tug boat with the latest clean diesel model that meets the latest emissions milestones can reduce on average 14.9 tons of NOx emissions per year.

US announces funding to optimize fuels and engines

The US Energy Department’s Vehicle Technologies Office released a multi-topic funding opportunity announcement (FOA). The funding, which will be $12 million, regards the Co-Optimization of Fuels and Engines. The funding will have two topics: Multi-Mode Optimized Fuel/Engine System Development; Bioblendstocks to Optimize Mixing Controlled Compression Ignition Engines.
