Sister-vessels, Oceanic Sirius and Oceanic Vega have completed a round-the-clock, 10-day maintenance programme at Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam (DSAm). For eight of those days the two 106-metre vessels were in the yard’s 250-metre drydock no.4 in a tandem arrangement, to maximise the efficient use of resources. 

A Norwegian politician called for marine mammal observer onboard seismic vessels, ahead of the agreement between Russia and Norway regarding mutual rights to seismic acquisition in the Barents Sea. Namely, Green Party's Arne Liaklev said that acoustic surveys for oil deposits below the seabed should be avoided if there are whales nearby. 

The new agreement will include a right for seismic vessels from both countries to cross the delimitation line and use their seismic equipment within a distance of 5 kilometers on the continental shelf of the other country. According to the Delimitaion Agreement of 2010, such discoveries shall be subject to unitization.

Petroleum Geo-Services launched a concept for collecting plastics at sea using seismic vessels. This project involves a single seismic vessel towing a boom and skirt arrangement with a bubble curtain that lifts plastic. The pilot will be carried out offshore, over a period of about two months in either the Atlantic or the Caribbean.

Ship repair and conversion yard Shipdock Amsterdam, part of Damen Shipyards Group, received a contract for the propulsion upgrade of the 3D Seismic Vessel 'Polarcus Naila'. The ultra-modern vessel will arrive at Shipdock in February 2014 for its six-week conversion.
