The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully rescued 71 passengers from the MV Reina Hosanna, a passenger vessel that experienced engine failure near Capul, Northern Samar.

IMCA provides lessons learned from an incident in which during a routine rescue drill the self-righting frame assembly fell off the Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) into the water, while the FRC was transiting at approximately 15 knots.

Two missing crew members of the cargo ship Gia Bao 19, which sank on 17 December in the waters off Chan May Cape, Thua Thien Hue province in Vietnam, were successfully located and rescued after several hours adrift at sea.

A Coast Guard Operation Turks and Caicos MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew rescued six people, on December 13th, after their vessel sank about 30 miles north of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

Sixteen crew members were safely rescued by the Chinese containership crew from a chemical tanker that was in danger at sea. The Philippines Coast Guard is honoring the crew of a Chinese containership for its brave actions.
