One incident of armed robbery against ships in Asia (CAT 4 incident) was reported to ReCAAP ISC between 14 - 20 March 2023.

Two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia (one CAT 3 incident and one CAT 4 incident) were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 28 February - 6 March 2023.

In February 2023, nine incidents of armed robbery against ships (occurred in internal waters, archipelagic waters and territorial seas) were reported in Asia. No incident of piracy (occurred on high seas) was reported. Of the nine incidents, eight incidents were reported in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore (SOMS), which remains an area of concern. The number of incidents reported in SOMS accounts for 75% (12 of 16 incidents) of the total number of incidents in Asia reported during January-February 2023. 

Two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia, one CAT 31 incident and one CAT 42 were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 21-27 February 2023.

Two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia, one CAT 2 and two CAT 4, were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 14-20 February 2023.

In January 2023, seven incidents of armed robbery against ships (occurred in internal waters, archipelagic waters and territorial seas) were reported in Asia. No incident of piracy (occurred on high seas) was reported. The situation in the Singapore Strait (SS) is an area of concern, with reports of four incidents, account for 57% (four of seven incidents) of the total number of incidents in Asia in January 2023.

Three incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia, one CAT 21 and two CAT 42, were reported to ReCAAP ISC, between 1-6 February 2023.

Three incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia, comprising of one CAT 31 incident and two CAT 42 incidents, were reported to ReCAAP ISC, from 25 to 31 January 2023.

Two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia, one CAT 31 and one CAT 42, were reported to ReCAAP ISC, from 17-24 January 2023.

According to ReCAAP ISC, a total of 84 incidents of piracy and armed robbery against ships (80 actual and four attempted incidents) were reported in Asia in the year 2022.
