The Republic of the Marshall Islands has issued a Marine Safety Advisory to explain the correct method for completing, verifying, and submitting the form ‘Critical Items Checklist’ (MSD 340) to ensure that it accurately reflects the status of the critical items, particularly the Quick Closing Valves (QCVs) and other items that may lead to an unsafe condition onboard an RMI-flagged ship.

The RMI has issued Marine Safety Advisory to inform on the 2014 amendments to the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) that will enter into force 18 January 2017.

SQEMARINE recommends best practice guide for Pilot Transfer Arrangements CIC, scheduled from Sep. 1st to Nov. 30rd, 2016. This CIC aims to verify that vessels comply with the requirements and measures regarding pilot transfer arrangements on board ships detailed in the Annex to IMO Resolution A.1045 (27)

Riyadh MoU announced the launch of a CIC based on Pilot Transfer Arrangement which will be held from three months, from September 1st until November 30th 2016. The purpose of this CIC is to ensure that the ship master and crew are familiar with this arrangement.

The United Kingdom detained seven foreign-flagged ships during July 2016 after they failed port state control inspection. They included four vessels previously detained and three new detentions.

ClassNK has released its annual report on Port State Control. The report aims to assist ship operators and management companies in maintaining compliant operations by providing information about ships detained by PSC as well as deficiencies that were found on board from many port states in 2015.

Paris MoU has published its Annual Report on Port State Controls which contains details of the main developments in the Paris MoU for the year and the outcomes of their inspections. The PSC Annual Report highlights large decrease in number of banned ships within the region during 2015.
