During Posidonia 2018, SAFETY4SEA team met with Mr. Panos Yannoulis, President of OceanKing, for an exclusive interview regarding the key challenges that industry is currently facing.  Among many issues for consideration by industry stakeholders, Mr. Yannoulis noted that disrupting changes are on the way and therefore industry needs to be proactive and do its best to balance associated risks

In an interview with SAFETY4SEA, Mr. Andreas Nicolaou, Managing Director at Dromon Bureau of Shipping, argued that the road to a robust safety culture in the maritime industry is not to add new standards, but to ensure the effective implementation of the existing standards.

Digitalization is happening, and it does create queries with respect to how maritime is investing in Internet of Things (IoT) or whether the industry has skills for IoT adoption. Research suggests that the maritime industry is more amenable to adopting analytic, management and operational tools applied through the IoT than many commentators have supposed.

Shipping's digital transformation, cyber technologies, autonomous mobility and artificial intelligence (AI) are the driving forces shaping today the industry for tomorrow, and several Internet service providers and AI specialist firms sharing their perspectives on the issue on the sidelines of Posidonia 2018 currently underway in Athens.

A new  LNG bunkering project, entitled 'probunkers',  with the aim to contribute to the development of LNG marine infrastructure by providing premier and reliable LNG bunkering services, was introduced at  Posidonia 2018 during an inaugural event on Tuesday 5th of June. 

Posidonia 2018, the biennial shipping trade event, officially kicked off on the evening of 4 June, in Athens, Greece. Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Alexis Tsipras, presided on the official opening ceremony of one of the longest standing international maritime trade shows, which this year celebrates 50 years since its inception in the late 60’s.
