The Port of Rotterdam reported 3.0% less cargo cargo in the first six months compared to the exceptionally good first half of 2015 when throughput increased by 6.8%

Carnival Corporation, DNV GL, ENGIE, ENN, GE, GTT, Lloyd’s Register, Mitsubishi Corporation, NYK Line, Port of Rotterdam, Qatargas, Shell, TOTE Inc. and Wärtsilä have announced a new cross-industry initiative called SEA\LNG, to accelerate the use of LNG as a marine fuel.

FNV and CNV Vakmensen trade unions, Rotterdam container companies and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have concluded consultations on employment in the container industry. The trade unions will present the outcome of the negotiations to their members with favourable advice.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority (PoR) hosted the second Port Authorities Roundtable (PAR) in Rotterdam, from 22 June till 24 June 2016.The Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Mr Andrew Tan, attended the closed-door roundtable event that brought together port authorities from major ports in Asia, Europe and US to network.

Port of Roterdam says that no longer physical Customs document is required to transfer containers from one Maasvlakte terminal to the other. The participating terminals APMT, ECT and RWG have made agreements with the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration 0n ‘paperless transfer’ system which considerably reduces the administrative workload – particularly for shipping lines. The initiative simplifies the exchange of containers between terminals.

Port of Rotterdam Authority has announced that at ExxonMobil,construction has started for the new Hydrocracker,an investment of more than one billion dollars.

The container shipping alliance 2M – formed by Maersk Line and MSC – published the new shipping schedule for its Europe-Asia route today. And the changes have proven very much to Rotterdam’s advantage, with an extra first port of call position and an extra last port of call position in the itineraries of the largest vessels.

Titan LNG has managed the first de-bunkering of a LNG powered inland waterway barge: the Greenstream in the Dutch port of Moerdijk. The procedure was executed in close collaboration between Amulet Management & Services, Cryonorm, Titan LNG and the Port of Moerdijk with support from the Port of Rotterdam.
