Port Commission Chairman of the Port of Houston Authority, Janiece Longoria, stressed impacts of Hurricane Harvey, stating that the port needs additional relief to properly dredge the channel, so that it can accommodate normal commerce at its authorized depth and width.

Enterprise Products Partners and Navigator Holdings announced the execution of a letter of intent, to jointly develop an ethylene marine export terminal on the Houston Ship Channel. The ethylene export terminal would be connected to Enterprise’s ethylene salt dome storage and ethylene pipeline system, which is currently under construction.

The completion of maintenance dredging of the Bayport channel was announced to the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority. The channel will be maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at a depth of 48.5 feet mean lower low water, enabling the Bayport Container Terminal to receive 45-foot draft vessels.

  U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy visited the Port of Houston to highlight grants aimed at improving air quality.
