Effective from January 2017, the use of mass flow metres on all bunker vessels, licensed by MPA delivering marine fuel oil in Singapore has become mandatory. MPA Singapore has currently suspended the harbour craft licences of five bunker tankers, after it found irregularities with piping fixtures.

On 3rd January 2017, the MPA was notified of a collision between Singapore-registered container vessel WAN HAI 301 and a Gibraltar-registered container vessel APL DENVER off Pasir Gudang Port, Johor Malaysia.
