Demonstrating multilateral cooperation to improve navigational safety in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore, the Phase Two of a Joint Hydrographic Survey was formally launched via a Memorandum of Understanding signed at Kota Kinabalu, among Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

To promote LNG bunkering in Asia, MPA and MLIT will helm a working group to conduct a feasibility study on LNG bunkering for car carriers plying between Japan and Singapore. The working group will include Japan’s big three shippers, K Line, NYK and MOL.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore informed that multi-agency search and rescue efforts are continued, to locate the remaining unaccounted crew of USS John S McCain, and the search area was further expanded to 5524 km2, from 2620 km2 earlier.
