Wärtsilä technology group and US-based cruise operator Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings have renewed their existing performance-based service agreement, aiming to ensure the optimum performance levels of the engines on board 10 NCLH cruise ships.

At Nor-Shipping 2017, NYK and DNV GL presented the first results of an ongoing maritime data center pilot project. The data center collects operational data from NYK vessels on DNV GL’s recently launched Veracity industry data platform, for monitoring vessel performance and condition-based maintenance schemes.

At Nor-Shipping Conference, DNV GL and Oshima Shipbuilding launched a new 65k open-hatch general cargo carrier design. Intended for a wide range of project cargoes and packaged goods, the design includes composite tween decks, to maximize space utilization and save weight. The solution was also awarded an Approval in Principle by DNV GL.

Nor Lines and Rolls-Royce have signed a “Power-by-the-Hour” service agreement for the two vessels Kvitbjørn and Kvitnos. The new service, introduced by Rolls-Royce Marine, harnesses the power of “Big Data” to monitor, plan and perform maintenance and repairs on all the equipment it has installed on the cargo vessels. The agreement is the first of its kind.
