Sempra Energy announced that its subsidiary, Port Arthur LNG, LLC, received authorization from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to site, construct and operate its natural gas liquefaction-export facility under development in Jefferson County, Texas.

The Russian cabinet gave permission to 28 foreign-flagged vessels to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) and gas condensate via the Northern Sea Route, which runs along the Russian Arctic coast, according to the Russian government.

The staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has prepared a final environmental impact statement (FEIS) for the proposed Texas LNG project. FEIS determined that the construction and operation of the Texas LNG Project would result in adverse environmental impacts.

According to EIA US natural gas production experienced an increase by 10.0 billion cubic feet per day in 2018, noting an 11% rise in comparison to 2017. The development reported was the largest annual increase in production on record, establishing a record high for a second year in a row.

LNG Russian deliveries to Europe achieved a record in February leading the path among other suppliers. Novatek-led Yamal LNG project delivered 19 cargoes reaching 1.41 million tons to Europe, Reuters states. These volumes reached the highest since the project was launched in December 2017; That results to Russia being the top supplier to the European LNG import terminal.

The port of Ferrol has hosted liquefied natural gas (LNG) refueling operations to ships that use this product as fuel, instead of fuel oil or diesel oil. The two operations were performed on February 23 and 24 respectively. They were carried out on the outer jetty, which is the dock of the inner dock where small and medium-sized cruise ships usually dock when they visit the city. 

US based energy major Chevron has allegedly restarted production from its third liquefaction train at the Gorgon LNG plant on Barrow Island in Western Australia. The unit was brought back online the previous weekend, after an outage that lasted since mid-January when a mechanical issue caused a halt, Reuters reports.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification volumes at Lithuania’s first and only import terminal in the port of Klaipeda reported mixed results for the first month of the year. Klaipedos Nafta, the terminal operator, published its monthly report according to which the facility regasified and reloaded 0.47 Twh of natural gas, 79.1% above the 0.26 TWh in the same month in 2018.

Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil have taken the final investment decision for developing the Golden Pass LNG export project, which is located in Sabine Pass, Texas. The LNG export project is owned by Golden Pass Products LLC, a joint venture between affiliates of Qatar Petroleum, holding the 70% and ExxonMobil, the 30%.

The Final Investment Decision for the floating LNG terminal on the Croatian Island of Krk was adopted on January 31, 2019. The procurement process of the FSRU vessel took place in November 2018, during which the bid from Golar was evaluated as the most economically beneficial, offering a new conversion of the existing LNG tanker to the FSRU vessel worth EUR 159.6 million.
