The final investment decision (FID) for the Arctic LNG 2 project has been approved by Total, Novatek and other project stakeholders. As Total states, the project is set to have a production capacity of 19.8 million tons per year (Mt/y).

According to EIA, the liquefied natural gas exports from the US rose over the week ending September 4, as 12 LNG tankers had departed from US facilities, all of them carrying capacity of 43 billion cubic feet of LNG, increased by four cargoes in comparison to the previous week. 

Gazpromneft Marine Bunker, United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) and Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo signed a Memorandum of Understanding collaborating on the expansion of LNG as a marine fuel in Russia. 

Elenger, a subsidiary of Estonian energy company Eesti Gaas operating in foreign markets, began providing LNG bunkering services to LNG-powered vessels in the port of Hanko, Finland for the first time, in addition to Tallinn and Helsinki, where the company already operates. 

The Papua New Guinea Government announced that it gave the greenlight to Total, the Papua LNG Project operator, to move forward with the implementation of the $20 billion Papua LNG Project.

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) signed a contract with the Russian Zvezda shipyard for the construction of ice-class LNG carriers for the Arctic LNG 2 project and to provide technological support in this project. SHI announced that it will establish a joint venture with Zvezda for the construction of shuttle tankers, which demonstrates its willingness to enter into the Russian market.

Novatek, Russian gas producer, signed a Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with Indian natural gas companies Petronet LNG and H-Energy Global. The deal set the sale of LNG from Russia to India. Both agreements were signed under the auspices of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, and coincided with the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russia for summit talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

GasLog, owner and operator of LNG carriers, signed a ten-year time charter with Sinolam LNG Terminal, S.A. concerning an LNG floating storage unit to a gas-fired power project being developed in Panama. The FSU is scheduled for delivery in November 2020. 

Freeport LNG announced that it shipped its first LNG commissioning cargo for Train 1 from its liquefaction facility located on Quintana Island in Freeport, Texas. According to Freeport's statement, the LNG Jurojin departed on September 3 from the Freeport LNG terminal.

On 2 September 2019, Korolev Prospect, Sovcomflot’s LNG-fueled Aframax crude oil tanker, successfully carried out a commercial voyage along the Northern Sea Route (NSR). This is the first time that a large-capacity oil tanker has crossed the full length of the NSR using only LNG.
