According to Yamal LNG's statement, from the beginning of 2019, the plant produced more than 16.5 million tonnes of LNG, surpassing its annual nameplate production capacity. The LNG plant reached the 25 million tons of LNG since the beginning of Train 1 in December 2017; From that time, Yamal has dispatched more than 340 cargos.

Grain LNG, Europe’s largest LNG terminal, exported the highest ever amount of gas in a single day from any European terminal into the UK network.  The terminal, situated on the Isle of Grain in the Thames estuary, exported 698 GWh of gas, beating its previous record by more than 100 GWh.

Mitsubishi Corporation announced that November 4 is the day that Japan will celebrate 50 years of LNG imports, as Mitsubishi Corporation acting as a buyer’s agent, started receiving LNG in 1969 from the Alaska LNG Project with Phillips Petroleum, today's ConocoPhillips as a seller.

The new Alaska-based company Qilak LNG revealed plans to ship natural gas from the North Slope field to Asian markets, under a proposed Alaska North Slope LNG export project (Qilak LNG 1 Project). To this end, the company announced an agreement with ExxonMobil Alaska Production to ship LNG from Point Thomson.

Commonwealth LNG announced that the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review. The Commonwealth LNG project includes the construction of one liquefied natural gas plant, as well as six gas liquefaction trains and appurtenant facilities. Each train will have a liquefaction design capacity of approximately 1.4 million metric tonnes annually for a total nominal liquefaction capacity of 8.4 mtpa.

French oil major Total, the Republic of Benin and the Société Béninoise d’Energie Electrique (SBEE) have signed the Gas Supply Agreement and the Host Government Agreement for the development of an LNG import floating terminal in Benin.

Japan could lose its pole position as the world’s top LNG importer to China as early as 2022, according to a new report by energy consultancy Wood Mackenzie. By then, LNG imports in Japan are expected to decline 12% to 72.8 mmtpa compared to 2018, while China’s import volume rises 37.5% to 74.1 mmtpa.

US Chevron and partner, Woodside Petroleum, is under discussions for approval to modify its plans for the Kitimat LNG export facility on Canada’s Pacific Coast to an all-electric design. Both partners aim to reduce GHG emissions. The project is proposing to become an all-electric plant powered by hydroelectricity, allowing expanded capacity without the corresponding increase in emissions of a traditional LNG facility.

According to a Banchero Costa report, China is on the path of surpassing Japan this year as the world’s top importer of LNG. In 2018, China retained its position as the second largest importer, globally, of the commodity after Japan, surpassing South Korea in 2017. 

CREG, the Belgian Federal energy Regulator, approved the tariff and LNG Services Agreement proposals for unloading slots and additional storage services at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal; Thus terminal operator Fluxys LNG is able to finalise new long-term contracts for the facility up to 2044.
