Read moreBG Group issued an infographic to highlight FPSO Petrojarl Knarr. Knarr is BG Group’s first floating vessel development in the North Sea. It will deliver vital resources to the European energy market. The FPSO has been leased from Teekay Corporation (NYSE: TK) and is moored approximately 120 kilometres off the Norwegian coast. It has a production capacity of 63 000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and a storage capacity of 800 000 barrels. The Knarr field, discovered in 2008, has estimated gross recoverable reserves of around 80 million barrels of oil equivalent with a production life of at least ten years. In 2011 the Knarr field was merged with the Knarr West field into an integrated development. New exploration drilling in the licence area is ongoing, in order to help extend the production life further. BG Group is the operator of the field with a 45% working interest. Partners include Idemitsu Petroleum Norge (25%), Wintershall Norge (20%) and DEA Norge AS (10%). You can download the infographic by clicking here. Read moreGlobal ship hijackings, up to 21 in 2014 from 12 in 2013 Attacks against small tankers off South East Asia's coasts caused a rise in global ship hijackings, up to 21 in 2014 from 12 in 2013, despite piracy at sea falling to its lowest level in eight years, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Maritime Bureau (IMB) has revealed. Pirates took 442 crewmembers hostage, compared with 304 in 2013.IMB's annual piracy report shows 245 incidents were recorded worldwide in 2014 - a 44% drop since Somali piracy peaked in 2011. Somali pirates were responsible for 11 attacks, all of which were thwarted.
