Norway has become the first country to accept amendments to expand the size of the Council, extend the term of its Members, and recognize three additional language texts as authentic versions of the Convention on the IMO followed by Honduras accepting the amendments on 15 July 2022.

The MSC cruise ship, "MSC Armonia", collided at a dock on the island of Roatan, off Honduras. The ship run aground on a beach after hitting the pier, but managed to sail again on its own power. The incident took place as the ship was docking at the cruise port, and no injuries were reported.

The Honduras Maritime Authority advised that all vessels must nominate an oil spill response organisation which has been approved by the Authority to secure the availability of private personnel and equipment necessary to remove a worst-case discharge, and to mitigate or prevent a threat of such a discharge.
