On Tuesday night, the towing operation of the grounded car carrier 'Makassar Highway' started for Oskarshamn. The towing takes place in a speed of two knots and is followed by Coast Guard units in case any oil is released. At the current rate, the ship is expected to arrive at Oskarshamn overnight towards Thursday.

Strong winds have caused an small oil leak during fuel oil removal operations from the grounded car carrier 'Makassar Highway' off the Swedish coast, according to the latest update from the Coast Guard. Approximately 7000 liters of oil have been removed so far by Coast Guard ships. 

An underwater inspection of the Panama-flagged car carrier 'Makassar Highway', which ran aground off Sweden in the afternoon hours of Monday, showed that the vessel's hull has sustained an extensive damage, the Swedish Coast Guard informed. 

HM Coastguard informed that the MV Priscilla has been successfully refloated. After an initial assessment it was agreed that the ship was in safe condition to be towed to Scapa Flow, Orkney Isles. The vessel will arrive tomorrow and will go to safe anchorage where a further assessment, including an underwater dive inspection, will be carried out.

TAIC issued a report on the grounding of the cruise ship 'L’Austral', at Milford Sound, on 9 February 2017, revealing an insufficient use of electronic navigation systems. The ship was involved in another incident one month earlier, when it entered an unauthorised zone and struck an uncharted rock.

In the past 24 hours the salvor companies - Multraship/Ardent/Wagenborg - removed 28 tonnes of Marine Gas Oil from the vessel. In addition, over 270 tonnes of cargo has been successfully discharged from the vessel onto a reception barge. The barge is currently heading to Windwick Bay.

The UK MAIB announced that it started a safety investigation of the grounding of the 89m Netherlands registered cargo ship 'MV Priscilla' on Pentland Skerries in the Pentland Firth during 18 July 2018. UK MAIB inspectors are on the incident scene to collect evidence, aiming to establish the causes and circumstances of the accident.

The vessel MV Priscilla, which ran aground off Caithness last week, remains in a stable condition but hard aground. Now, a Salvage Control Unit meeting was held on July 24, where the salvors' - Multraship/Ardent/Wagenborg - plan was discussed and approved.

An oil spill has been reported after the Panama-flagged car carrier 'Makassar Highway' ran aground in an archipelago north of Vastervik on the Baltic Sea, in the afternoon hours of Monday, according to data provided by Swedish officials. 

Transport Malta's MSIU issued an investigation report on the grounding of the Maltese registered container ship 'Kea Trader' in the Pacific ocean. In a first of its kind situation, the six-months-old ship, owned by Lomar Shipping, ran aground on 12 July 2017 and remains on site until today.
