Green Award certification scheme announced introduction of a Platinum label for inland navigation ships that keep abreast of the times and operate several hours a day with zero emissions of CO2, SOx, NOx and PM.

Green Award Foundation announced that the marine technologies company E.D.I.T. Automation, officially became a member of the Green Award network as an incentive provider, on 06 December 2017. 

We4Sea, a maritime technology company announced it has joined the Green Award Foundation as an Incentive Provider. With this cooperation, We4Sea aims to make sustainable ship operation economically more attractive.  

The Netherlands-based Van der Velden Marine Systems B.V., provider of steering gear, rudders and hydraulic systems to the maritime sector, has become the latest incentive provider joining the Green Award Foundation.

“Our commitment to creating a sustainable future through our data and digital leadership to maximize safety and minimize environmental impacts pairs well with the Green Award’s mission to promote environmentally responsible shipping through management excellence and continuous improvement,” said ABS President, Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki. 

NanoPhos Marine, a company using nanotechnology to boost energy efficiency of ocean going vessels, became a Green Award incentive provider. Green Award has been certifying ships and ship managers that are superior to required values of the industry regulations for more than 20 years.

Ocean-going vessels arriving in Rotterdam with an Environment Ship Index score of 31 points or more are rewarded with a 10% reduction on the gross tonnage portion of the port fees. In 2016, the Port Authority issued almost 3 million euro in discounts to vessels with high Environmental Ship Index scores.

The Korean Register of Shipping and T&T Salvage, US operator of emergency response systems, have joined Green Award scheme. Ships certified by Green Award have a proven record of commitment to safety and quality standards, as well as demonstrating responsible environmental performance. 

Green Award Foundation has announced that their network of incentive providers has extended to China, as Kamji Marine Agency Ltd entered the scheme, on 31 July. Green Award surveys and certifies ships and ship managers that demonstrate excellent performance.
