LNG dual fuel powered very large crude carrier (VLCC) Antonis I. Angelicoussis is now certified by the Green Award Foundation, becoming the first of its kind to join the Green Award program.

The Port of Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest container port, became the first Greek port to enter the Green Award certification program and will be providing an incentive to Green Award ships calling at the port. The move comes as part of the port authority's broader plan to combat climate change.

The Port of Rotterdam extended its incentive to reward LPG and LNG carriers and oil, product and chemical tankers of any size certified by Green Award. From 1st of January, 2019, every liquid bulk carrier of any size registered to Green Award will benefit from a discount on the vessels' port dues when calling at Rotterdam. A discount of 15% on the vessels' port dues related to the GT-size will also apply.

MOL Techno-Trade has joined a Green Award Program to promote high-quality shipping. The program is run by the non-profit Green Award Foundation, which was established with the aim to protect the marine environment and ensure safe operation. The program has as a target to improve the quality of vessels and mariners and protect the marine environment.

Green Award-certified ships registered in the RMI Registry will now enjoy a 30% discount on their annual marine services fee. The Green Award is a voluntary certification scheme for ships that go beyond the industry’s regulations in terms of safety, quality, and environmental performance.

Green Award certification scheme welcomed GAC UK as new incentive provider. Green Award provides a platform to maritime organisations and companies for promotion of the best practices and elimination of sub-standard shipping on a voluntary basis.

The Nautical Institute has joined the Green Award scheme as an Incentive Provider, in a bid to support an environmentally friendly maritime industry. Green Award identifies and certifies ships that are extra clean, safe, demonstrate excellent performance and have gone beyond the legal standards.

The Green Award Foundation announced that two new incentive providers focusing on the provision of the best medical care possible in remote locations have entered the Green Award scheme: 'MedAssist.Online' and 'EC-MT'.

Any vessel carrying the Green Award Platinum label will be granted the discount. The Green Award Platinum is awarded by the the Amsterdam and Zaanstad ports, which became the first ports in the Netherldands to award it. The discount for the vessels is effective as of 1 January 2018.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, and Green Award Foundation announced that they have started a cooperation. MacGregor became a Green Award incentive provider, to encourage further improvement of safe ship operations.
