MacGregor, part of Cargotec, and Green Award Foundation announced that they have started a cooperation. MacGregor became a Green Award incentive provider, to encourage further improvement of safe ship operations.
Green Award certification scheme was launched almost 25 years ago, aims to promote the highest quality, safety and environmental standards in shipping through certifying vessels that go beyond mandatory regulations.
MacGregor initiated its ‘Brave to be Safe’ campaign in June 2016, along with the campaign ‘No accidents’, said John Carnall, Senior Vice President, MacGregor Global Lifecycle Support. He continued saying that Macgregor wants to promote environmentally-friendly lubricants, which wil safeguard the environment.
Captain Mattheou,Green Award Chairman commented: “Only cooperation of all parties can make shipping safer. Each and every participant of the maritime industry matters and makes a difference. We welcome MacGregor’s decision to reward ships and ship managers that are prepared to invest in extra quality and safety.”
All Green Award Certified ships are entitled to various discounts or premium terms.
